Only a person who has stayed for a long time away from his homeland can truly appreciate the joy and excitement of a homecoming. For the last thirteen years, I have stayed away from home for education first and then for employment. I am now an occasional guest at my own native where I get to go only during holidays.

I belong to the suburbs in a northern district of the state of West Bengal in India. On one such visit to my home, I had clicked these picture from the train to capture the beauty of the open countryside of North Bengal. These views from the train have always been special to me for after a long journey each time, the site of this beautiful countryside raises the excitement in me, makes me start thinking, “I am home.”  It seems as if my homeland spreads her arms wide open and welcomes me.

These pictures were clicked from the train I was travelling in. The shadow at the bottom of the pictures is of the train itself.
